About Us

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Our Story

Founded in 1996, Chinese Society of Austin ( CSA ) is a non-profit dedicated to serving Chinese Americans in Austin with a mission to unite Chinese Americans from Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong and promote their interaction with the mainstream American community socially, economically and culturally.  We are always looking for better ways to promote our goals so you can enjoy the benefits of being a member of CSA. We would highly encourage anyone who is not a member yet to join our association.  Feel free to explore our other web categories so you can know us better and you are very welcome to contact us if you have any questions.

Since the creation of the Chinese Society of Austin in 1997,  our association is committed to promote the rich heritage of Chinese Culture in the Greater Austin Community as well as  San Antonio and Houston area. We host Cultural exchange exhibition shows and programs from Taiwan in the Long Center and St. Andrews Episcopal School in Austin. We made connection with the Taipei Cultural and Economics Office in Houston, inviting their officers to our major events such as Chines New Year Celebration and Mid-Autumn Festival.  During many of our sponsored events, we have lion dance, traditional Chinese music and cultural group dance, young adults and children orchestra performance, art and painting exhibition, calligraphy, ancient Peking opera and aerobatics exhibition from Taiwan. One of the main goals is to develop and cultivate the public’s knowledge of the traditional culture, customs, geographical factors, classic and modern values of the Orient. America is a melting pot of many ethnic origins and Chinese American has a fairly large portion in the pot that we make ourselves known to all other groups in the community. Via the above norms and public relations with the community, we also develop the reputation and social status of the Chinese and Chines American population in this land.

Besides events, charity is another key factor of what we do and why we are formed. During the pandemic era, we joined a network of Asian American organizations to deliver massive number of masks to the community, educated them how to protect themselves from the virus, advise them the survival skills etc. During disasters happened such as Hurricane, earthquakes or tornado, we immediately form a relief effort to collect funding and send to the agents who administer the aids to the victims. We have visited nursing home , care for the elderly, accompany them to offset loneliness and one time,  few of our board directors have hosted a child from China to undergo special heart surgery in the Children Hospital of Austin till her recovery. Wherever the community need help; we will be there.

Doing all of the above will need big financial resources. We appreciate our private sponsors and company sponsors to keep us going. It is always good to obtain more sponsorship, the more we get, the more we can do to achieve.  Unity is a last key word, via the efforts of our organization, we unite the Chinese and as well as all Americans in the community to help each other , to assist those who need aids and to promote our values and spirit in the Greater Austin area.
